Upcoming Local Festivals to Check Off Your Summer Bucket List!

If you are familiar with the weather in the Midwest- you know that it can be very unpredictable. Winter eventually turns into Spring but constantly flips back and forth from cold to semi-warm, making it very difficult to predict when summer actually begins! Luckily, us Midwesterners are used to this and we are grateful when summer is finally in full force! It gives us the opportunity to enjoy the warmth, relax and have fun in the sun with our community!

One of the best ways to experience summer in the Midwest is by attending local festivals. Whether you live in the city or a smaller town, chances are that there is a festival happening nearby. At Porky’s, we are a farm-to-table BBQ restaurant and very excited to showcase our high-quality BBQ food in Arlington Heights at the following festivals this summer:

Arlington Heights Farmer’s Market

Summers are the best time to support local farmers and step up your farm to table game! Make sure you stock up on seasonal produce and visit the Arlington Heights Farmer’s Market, located right across the street from the Arlington Heights Historical Museum! The farmer’s market is open every Saturday from 8:00 AM- 12:30 PM and offers fresh, local foods with a ton of extra goodies such as pastries and cheeses! This is the perfect opportunity to pick up some fresh ingredients for your next summer soiree! Make sure to check out Porky’s very own Chef Timothy Vidrio as he shares one of his favorite summertime recipes during his Chef demo! His recipes are fresh, quick and easy so that you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time outside enjoying those summer nights!

Frontier Days 

There’s nothing like celebrating the 4th of July at one of the most highly anticipated summer events in Arlington Heights- Frontier Days. Frontier Days is held from June 30th, 2023-July 4th, 2023, and is commonly known as “The Festival” because it has been cited as one of the finest festivals in the northwest suburbs! The Festival is super fun because it features free entertainment, delicious food, free family events, sports activities, as well as carnival rides! One of the highlights of Frontier Days is that it has one of the biggest Fourth of July parades in the northwest suburbs!  Don’t forget to stop by Porky’s booth for some of the most delicious BBQ food in Arlington Heights!

Harmony Fest

Another fun festival to attend that celebrates the end of the summer is Harmony Fest! This festival is really special because it’s like a “taste of Chicago” but in this case it’s a “taste of Arlington Heights”. Get ready to sample great food from some of the local restaurants and vendors in Arlington Heights! This is your chance to take a culinary tour and try various cuisines while also listening to live music! If you plan on bringing your little ones, they have several kid’s activities too!
